Critical Reflection
The goal that I have set for myself was to improve in my writing communication skills and to improve in my presentation skills. Personally, I felt that I have achieved these goals through the effective communication module and assignments. However, there is always room for improvement as the learning never stops. By posting the assignments through the blog, I find myself to be more critical in my grammar errors and sentence structure. I tend to read my post many times to check if there were any errors. Over time, with the active consultation and peer evaluation in class, I am able to identify my mistakes and further improve on it. The mock presentation was a valuable experience for me as it really brings me out of my comfort zone. I practised many times on my part and with the feedback from my fellow classmates, I worked on my mistakes so as to avoid it in the future.
The main challenge of my research project was the writing of the technical report. Initially, my group could not decide on our research topic and problem statement. Through the project, I learned how to work with my team effectively as everyone has their own opinions. We split the research workload among teammates and compiled everything when we meet up. Another challenge was the preparation for the presentation as it has been a while since I last presented in Polytechnic. Overall, I felt that my team did well in our presentation as we did multiple mock presentations and give feedback on what could be improved. Though there was some hiccup during our presentation, we managed to pull through as a team. This makes me believe that through practices, I can be more confident and be prepared. In conclusion, being able to write an effective technical report will ensure the reader has a clear and detailed explanation of the topic. Being able to give a wonderful presentation can help to leave a strong impact on the audience.
Thank you for the effort with this final reflection, Yong Quan. I appreciate the detailed description of the two facets of your learning: for the module in general and the project. (I also appreciate your effort to do the vodcast.)
